Last Will & Testament Of William Vance

THIS IS THE LAST WILL & TESTAMENT OF WILLIAM VANCE

I, William VANCE of the county of Tazewell and state of Virginia do hereby make my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say: 1st. I desire that all my perishable property be immediately sold after my death and out of monies arising therefrom all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid. 2nd. After the payment of my debts and funeral expenses I give to my wife, Nancy one third part of my estate both real and personal for and during the term of her natural life and after her decease I give the same to my children herein after mentioned equally to be divided among them, and to be enjoyed by them forever. 3rd. I give to my son, Harvey Vance one dollar with this condition, if said Harvey Vance shall live longer than his wife, Eliza then I desire that the balance of my children shall out of their several shares pay to my son, Harvey equally so as to make him equal with the rest of my children, to whom I have given all of my estate both real and personal, namely, my sons: John and Howard, and my daughters: Mary Helton, Sally Davis, Susannah Vance, Marinda Vance, and Rhoda Vance, and Lucinda Vance. 4th. I require that my four single daughters shall have a sufficient support out of the proceeds of my land as long as they remain single and live with my wife, Nancy Vance. And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my friend, Shadrack White, Senior, Executor of my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by me heretofor made. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this 16th day of May, 1853.
